One of the best pieces of criticism I've ever read on this wonderful site. Thoroughly enjoyable and insightful in a way only Mr. BAP can. Thank you.

I think Nolan has a more cowardly agenda: he implies that the openness-invites-abuse-which-eventually-leads-to-collapse cycle is natural and therefore the bleeding-heart pro-immigration liberals were still "right" as they fulfilled their part in this cycle, by being the torch-bearers of enlightened principles. "They were right but the world just wasn't ready for them", essentially, so they have to depart and then come back around later.

Nowhere does he show any understanding that masculine principles have inherent virtue.
