I talk to legendary condottiere and military helicopter pilot Neall Ellis, hero of the battle of Freetown (where in January 1999 he single-handed saved the city from the RUF with his Mi-17 helicopter flying solo sorties), on his life and times, his youth in Rhodesia and South Africa, his early soldiering career, his turn to independent military life, the nature of aviation in our time, the changes in modern warfare, drones, and stories on Africa.
Neall Ellis is one of only about four or five men in our time who I mentioned as embodying the spirit I admire in my book Bronze Age Mindset and it was great to finally talk to him.
